How to get the snapback you deserve!

First off, when it comes to baby weight let’s give ourselves a break. We grew humans. Living, breathing, and absolutely adorable humans were formed in our bodies. Let that sink in for a second. Of course we all wish that post-partum included an immediate snapback into our skinny jeans, but that’s not real life. Real life is filled with sleepless nights, topless days, and moments where you eat pizza for a week just to power through. That’s okay.

When you are ready to jump back into meal prep and the gym, remember to give it time. Just like it took time for your sweet bundle of joy to grow, it will take time and effort to lose the weight that you put on. Season 1 Episode 4 of the Not For Lazy Moms podcast was all about how to Detox without the diet fads- A solid cleanse is a great way to jumpstart your fitness and wellness journey.

Erin Washington, fitness influencer @squatsandmargaritas, suggests resetting your metabolism. It’s not about running on the treadmill 7 days a week and skipping meals to “save calories.” It’s about eating every 2 hours (yes, every 2 hours), putting down the 3lb weights for heavier ones, and incorporating interval training into your fitness repertoire.

If you are having difficulty finding the time to workout throughout the week, be creative! Some days wake up extra early or go to bed a tad later to get the sweat session in. Or, do what Chris Samuels does and include your child in your workouts! He brings his son Christopher to the gym with him! It’s not only a fantastic way to spend some quality time with your child, but it’s also a great way to instill in your child the importance of taking care of themselves.

Is there a way to lose weight and still enjoy your favorite foods? Absolutely! Treat yourself don’t deprive yourself. You can still indulge and order those french fries, just eat half of them! Just like life, it’s all about balance. Order the margarita, and pair it with a fresh salad! Balance is key.

At the end of the day, be kind to yourself. Whether that leaving the kids with daddy or a babysitter so you can get in a barre class, or taking the week off from working out completely. Do what works for you. You should feel proud of the amazing woman you are. You grew a human. Remember that. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for!

Tips

  • Start off with a cleanse

Having a clean slate when it comes to beginning your journey into your skinny jeans is not only good when it comes to eliminating the toxins in your body, but it also helps you to have a fresh mindset!

  • Be patient

Rome wasn’t built in a day and your six pack won’t be either.… be patient and kind to yourself. Don’t forget that you just gave birth to a baby!

  • Change it up

If you are doing the same workout 4 times a week and not seeing results, change it up! Try interval training one of the days and yoga another!

Many events have shaped who I am today. From becoming a co-host of a morning radio show in DC, to saying “I do” to my best friend. But the event, or shall I say the on-going event, that I am most proud of, is my son. Being a mom is exhausting, it is liberating, it is every emotion all tangled up into one mess, and I love it. I also enjoy sharing (and confessing) my experiences with you fellow moms! I am so thankful for the Not For Lazy Moms community. This group of women encourages me to do what makes me happy and to wear a cute outfit while doing it!
